Amesbury, MA 01913 978-340-1059 Shaolin Kung Fu Wing Tsun Kung Fu, Taijiquan Scott Tarbell, a resident of Amesbury, came to the Worcester, Massachusetts area as a young boy from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Scott has studied a variety of martial arts throughout his life. He began his Karate training at the age of 8 with the Boy's club as well as boxing under the supervision of his father who was a two-time Golden Gloves boxing champion of Worcester, MA. Scott holds a 3rd degree black belt in San Chai Na Shaolin Kempo Karate under 10th Dan Grandmaster Carrozi, a 1st degree black belt in Modern Arnis and an advanced rank in Olympic Style Tae Kwan Do under 5th Dan Do Wun Kim the Ex-National Coach for the USA Olympic Tae Kwon Do Team. Scott has studied Pien San Wing Chun, Modern Arnis, Small Circle Jujitsu and Kyusho Jitsu extensively under 4th Dan Sifu Alex Lavaud. Scott switched over to the Leung Ting Wing Tsun Kung Fu system, after many years of prior training in classical Wing Chun. Scott was the first person ever to receive the rank and title of Primary Technician in Wing Tsun within the New England area. Scott is currently a direct student of Wing Tsun under his Sifu, Master Jeff Webb, the National Trainer for North America formerly under Grandmaster Leung Ting. Scott continues to train with Sifu Jeff through yearly seminars and intensive private lessons. Scott has been training Submission Wrestling and Grappling since 1997. A few years back Scott joined Brazilian Top Team to study Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Black Belt Daniel Gazoni. Scott was granted permission to teach Gi and No-Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2007 independently from his instructor Mr. Gazoni. Scott also currently studies Shaolin Longfist & White Crane Kung Fu, and Yang Style Taijiquan under Alex Kiesel,Chris Fazzio, and Paul Blake III at YMAA Andover and with Master Yang Jwing Ming and Nicholas C. Yang at the YMAA Headquarters in Boston. Scott studies various topics while at YMAA such as Shaolin Kung Fu, Xing Yi, Praying Mantis, Qin Na, Tong Bei, Saber, Sword, Staff, Taiji Fighting Set and Applications, and various sets of Qigong. Scott takes various seminars with Master Yang throughout the year in order to improve his skills. Scott is currently involved in a Teacher training program at YMAA Andover and YMAA Boston in order to progress his studies and rank in Kung Fu, Taijiquan, and Qigong, as well as learn how to better teach the YMAA Shaolin Curriculum. In total, Scott has over twenty years of training and has devoted the past nine years to teaching various martial arts. A graduate of Salem State College, Scott holds a B.S. in Psychology with a double minor in sociology and human biology, along with a Masters degree in Special Education. Scott and his wife Ayako are the proud parents of a 3 year old girl Safiya Meekah and a baby boy Jonah Takuma, as well as their other "babies"- a cat named Xiangmao and a Pug named Cujo. Scott spends his free time, studying Japanese Language, Culture, and History, researching and training all aspects of Martial Arts in Japan every summer, as well as researching Sport Psycholgy and Philosophy. Scott is also very dedicated to his daily training of Qigong and Zen meditation, as well as expanding his collection of oldies and classic rock albums.
